The award for Best Exterior Commercial Project goes to Bob Kunst Painting. They assembled a four-member crew to undertake a commercial painting/striping project at Lifehouse. The goal of this project was to paint the exterior as well as make the building look as if it had more architectural features to the naked eye. The assignment entailed power washing the building’s exterior to remove dirt and mildew. Stucco patches needed to be installed and repaired, and the exterior of the building needed to be primed and painted. The repainting aspect of the assignment required the crew to pressure wash the entire building, prime stucco patches, apply two coats of Elastomeric to three sides of the building, and then apply two coats of Benjamin Moore Ultra Spec to the entire exterior. Once the two base colors were applied to the top and bottom of the building sections, they carefully measured accent sections for 5 additional colors as requested by the design team.
Furthermore, the assignment asked that we create faux architectural lines onto the north and west sides of the building. After laying out the accent stripes/squares via chalk lines and shurtape stucco tape, they applied the accent colors by hand. The project needed to be completed quickly as the rainy season was fast approaching; however the real challenge was dry time between all of the accent colors. The assignment was successfully completed on time and under budget.
