The award for Best Exterior Commercial Restoration Project goes to Two Day Painting. In the early spring of 2021 they received a call from a local University that had a large painting project, which consisted of painting the exterior of a sports complex building that boarded a football field. The building was 14 years old and was in rough shape and needed significant attention and restoration. From the physical conditions and surroundings to the grand scale in size, paired with high customer expectations and tight timeframes, we knew this was going to be an extreme challenge.
They approached the job with a unique and custom solution to meet the client’s needs and wrote up a very detailed proposal, further educating the customer on the process and why they were best fit to take on the challenge. Just days before the start date the customer sprung a drastic color change with complex color schemes. They quickly quoted a change order and had to source new products from a handful of stores throughout the state since supply was low in shortage.
The job started as scheduled, and they spent several days washing the grime that accumulated over 14 years. After washing they tirelessly hand scraped a colossal amount of loose paint and wire brushed all the rusty areas. The amount of prep was tremendous, and the mess of debris created was massive. Everything was cleaned up entirely before painting began, filling multiple garbage bags of paint chips.
Working conditions throughout the job were very tough, but the team worked smart and was kept motivated to keep pushing. Team meetings were held daily with safety talks during each stage. They received countless comments from the school and even random people about how great the building looked.
