The award for Best Interior Commercial Project goes to Harpeth Painting. The Alliance Bernsten tenant build-out was arguably one of Nashville’s most expensive per square foot tenant build out projects completed to-date. The scope expands across eight floors and includes over 190,000square feet of open office area, private offices, and an executive suite level. What began as a raw shell space during the initial construction of the highrise, soon became a combination of state-of-the-art finishes and unique design elements.
Their installation of felt wallcovering had a specific pattern in each of the offices, totalling over 150 distinct elevations specifically outlined by the architectural team. Their team developed a prefabrication system in their shop where the elevations for each office were outlined in a design manual developed in house. They had a crew lead whose primary responsibility was cutting and labeling the colors for each room. The sections of wallcovering were rolled, labeled by room, and transported to the field for installation. Their team consisted of up to 20 craftspeople on this project for over a year.
While the final design is nothing short of awe-inspiring, the complicated sequencing alongside fellow trades was not for the faint of heart. The teamwork required between subcontractors and alongside the general contractor were key to the success of the project.
