Scraping and sanding are an important part of the surface-preparation process. Performing these tasks will impact how well your primer and paint will stick to that surface.
Good adhesion is our goal.
And this is important because the paint-work will last longer for the customer. However, it’s also up to the customer to decide how much they want to spend on surface preparation. That’s why it’s critical to know your scope of work, and to review the level of surface preparation the client would like to see. This can range from wanting a perfectly smooth surface on clapboard siding, to a more textured surface with a rough-sawn cedar siding.
